Design a Cross

for a

Baptism, First Communion or Confirmation

Our design starts with a cross and has five (or optionally four) rectangles in it.  Each box has vertical and horizontal lines, that represent the letters in a name or the numbers in a date.

The vertical rectangles represent the child’s names – first name, last name and an optional middle or nickname.  The horizontal rectangles represent the dates – date of birth and date of Baptism, First Communion or Confirmation.  Each box is divided vertically or horizontally between either 26 letters or 10 numbers.

Each line in the box represents either a letter in the child’s name or a number their date of birth or date of baptism or confirmation. The placement of each line depends on where that letter or number falls alphabetically or numerically.

The vertical rectangles have places for 26 lines, one for each letter in the alphabet

The top rectangle represents the child’s first name.

The middle rectangle represents child’s the middle name.

The bottom rectangle represents the child’s last name.

The horizontal rectangles have places for 10 lines, one for each number 0-9.

The left rectangle represents the date of birth.

The right rectangle represents the date of Baptism, First Communion or Confirmation.

If a number or letter appears more than once in the name or date, that line gets thicker each time that letter or number is repeated.
